Ethan at 18/19 Months!
Okay, I know it's been forever since I did a blog entry. Life has been SO crazy lately! Anyway, I wanted to take a minute to document some of the things Ethan is doing at this age.
Eating: He is a very picky eater and likes to nibble on a variety of things. Some of his favorite foods are bananas, toast, string cheese, cooked carrots, grilled cheese sandwiches, grapes, yogurt, mashed potatoes, pasta (especially mac and cheese), and our most recent discovery - Oreos!
Toys: Ethan's favorite toys are balls, bats, golf clubs (or anything that could be used as a golf club - my rolling pin for example), cars, trucks, blocks and Mr. Potato Head. He is definitely ALL boy! He is able to locate a ball in the most obscure places (e.g. the pool filter) and won't stop saying "BALL!" until I've secured it for him. He's still trying to discern the difference between a car, truck, train, etc. The other day he saw a lady in the grocery store who was in a wheel chair and he started pointing and screaming "CAR!", "CAR!" He still loves Barney regardless of my attempts to introduce him to other types of media. His latest fascination is flushing the toilet and watching the water swirl around. At least he's not putting his hands in the water anymore. :)
Words: He literally started speaking overnight. Now it seems like he's learning a new word every day. Here's a list of the words he's saying:
Ball, Dog, Car, Boo Boo, Ohsh (which means either juice, lotion or shoes), No, Mom, Da Da, Bye, Eese (Please), Pa (grandpa), Baheey (Barney), Bat, Hat, Right Dare (right there) or Obadare (Over There), Where is?, Where is she?, Ba ba, Go! (we say, ready, set, and he finishes it out with go!) Bey Bah (belly button), Bah (bath), Baby, Osh (Josh), and last but not least, Yeah. He answers "yeah" to just about every question we ask him. It's so cute!
He's still a little guy. I put him on the scale the other day with all his clothes on and he weighed 22 1/2 lbs. So, as you can see from the pictures below, he's still not quite ready for 18-24 mo. pants! He started attending the nursery at church which is FANTASTIC for us! He loves it and does really well until the last 5 minutes. Then he starts saying, "Mom!", "Mom!"
He still refuses to take a nap in his crib which leaves me with the options of having him sleep in the car or in my arms. He was totally like this as a newborn too so I guess some things never change. He goes to bed at night beautifully and usually points to his crib to be put down. He loves to take baths and tickle mommy and daddy. He still likes his baba so I'm at a loss as to how to wean him from that. It's not gonna be pretty.
Although he can be pretty needy sometimes (definitely a mama's boy), he is the greatest blessing in our lives. We never could have imagined the kind of joy he would bring to us. He's our perfect little angel baby!

Ethan's new jeans sliding right off his bum. Guess he's not quite ready for 18-24 mo. sizes!

Ethan shows off his artwork on a newly discovered canvass - the wall. Thank goodness for Magic Erasers!
