Ethan & Cyndi

The other day I had some music playing in the car and a Cyndi Lauper song came on, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." After a minute or two Ethan said, "Mommy....wuvs this song!" It was the cutest thing! So now, every time the song comes on (it's on a cd mix of mine), he breaks out dancing. When the song is over, we have to play it again, and again, and again. We literally sit in the driveway dancing until the song is over. I have to admit, I like the song too because it brings me back to my childhood. I just never thought it would be part of his childhood too! So cute!

Shock & Awe...

We've had a few shock and awe moments this week so I thought I'd take a moment to document them. Some were cute and funny and others...well, I'm sure one day I'll laugh. I haven't quite gotten there yet... Enjoy!

Ethan decides that this bucket for his sandbox would be a great makeshift potty. Ethan is proudly displaying the pee pee he did in the bucket.
Mommy catches Ethan with the spatula from the brownies we made. Like father, like son!
After a full day of working outside, planting flowers, I brought Ethan in for a bath and got him all cleaned up for bedtime. We went downstairs to make Belgian waffles for dinner (a special treat for Daddy) and this is what happened next. Ethan was on his stool (where he always INSISTS on being when mommy is making or stirring anything). I had all the ingredients in the bowl and turned around to put the oil away when suddenly I looked at Ethan and saw him start to lose his balance on the stool. Within a split second he was on the floor (upright) but he held onto the bowl as he went down and this was the result...waffle mix all over the floor, cupboards, Ethan and me! Poor Blake...he walked in a minute after this happened and had to handle clean up while I gave Ethan yet ANOTHER bath! Nothing is easy with a 2 year old!
On the other hand, he really is my best little buddy. Once he learned that we're not supposed to pull the petals off the flowers, he really was a great little helper!

Catching Up!

The past few weeks have been hectic and fun. I need to do better at blogging because Ethan does so many things and I'm afraid I'll forget them all. For example, we all know that he loves Barney (along with all the other characters like BJ and Baby Bop). Well, we pulled into BJ's Wholesale the other day to get a few groceries and Ethan yelled out, "BJ's house!" I cracked up. Of course! That is the only logical place that BJ would live. Leave it to a two year old to put that together. :) Ethan has also noticed that he has two freckles and points them out whenever he sees them. So, today there was a little spot on the floor and Ethan said, "Mommy! A freckle!" Kids say the darndest things!

Rather than a big long narrative, I'll just type a few things after each picture which will explain what we've been up to. Enjoy!

My sister, Natalie, and her girls Sammie and Lexie, surprised my mom for her birthday and showed up unannounced from Virginia. We, of course, were thrilled to see them too. Ethan had so much fun playing with his cousins!

For the past week or so, Ethan has been looking out the front window watching our neighbor spray their flowers and lawn. Every time he says, "Ethan try it?" and I tell him "not today." Well, we stopped by Gemma and Pepe's house the other day and wouldn't you know that Pepe was out spraying down the driveway. Ethan went nuts and HAD to try it out for himself (with a little help from Pepeof course). He was in heaven! The highlight was spraying down Aunt Cathryn. What more could a two year old want?!

You guessed it - We're POTTY TRAINING! I seriously wasn't going to even think about potty training until he was closer to 3 (I'd heard boys were slower at figuring it out). But, about a month ago he started expressing an interest in it and so I figured, what the heck, we'll give it a try. Well, he did it and now he's almost potty trained. He runs around without pants on pretty much all day but he never has accidents. I'm just trying to figure out how to help him differentiate between underwear and a diaper. Gemma bought him some Diego underwear that I'm anxious to get on him. :) Good job Ethan! (A bonus is that he gets an M&M each time he goes!)
Ethan gets into a biker fight. Just kidding! Ethan took a little spill while on a walk with daddy. Apparently he started running down the sloped sidewalk and his little feet couldn't keep up. He face planted it and came home with multiple scrapes and cuts on the left side of his little face. Gemma treated him to a haircut the next day which made it all better. So, although his hair looks GREAT, his little face is still pretty banged up. Poor guy!
Two weekends ago we went to CT/MA to visit my two brothers and their families. My brother Scott was blessing his first child, Lincoln, on Sunday. So, while we were up visiting, Ethan and I took a little field trip with Kimberly and Rylan to the zoo. This is Ethan on a horse at the zoo. He LOVED it!
The boy cousins: Rylan, Lincoln & Ethan. So adorable!
The Pettitt clan after the baby blessing: Blake, Ethan, Jen, Tim, Rylan, Kimberly,
Scott, Lincoln, Natalie, Pops, Grammy and Emily. It sure was a special day!
