Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse!

On Saturday, May 22nd, Grant & Addison celebrated their 1st birthday with a Mickey and Minnie Mouse party. I'm not sure they knew what was going on but they sure had a great time tearing into presents and chowing down on cake. Here are some pictures from the party...

Grant wasn't so sure about the cake. He played with it a little but didn't really try to eat it. Had there been a pile of Cheerios in front of him, it would have been another story!Addie, on the other hand, had NO problem digging in to the cake. Unfortunately Mickey and Minnie cakes have a LOT of black frosting as you can see from Addies face.

Once we started cleaning off their faces, we realized that they were having an allergic reaction to the frosting wherever it had touched their skin. So, we had to quickly put them in the tub, call the doctor and give them Benadryl. Ah, never dull!

We still can't believe our little babies are one now. It's been a very long, challenging and wonderful year with them. Blake and I can't believe we survived those first few months of sleep deprivation and exhaustion. Thank goodness we are getting some rest these days. I want to take a second to write down a few of the things that we love best about the babies.

Grant

-deep, silly laugh
-our picky little eater; loves Cheerios & cheese
-had a very high pitched scream as a little baby
-will laugh at just about anything
-loves attention from anyone & will go to anyone who pays attention to him
-looks just like his daddy
-slow eater. As a newborn, it made us crazy that it took forever to feed him a bottle while his sister was done in half the time.
-scrawny little legs. As a newborn, he had the teeniest little legs I've ever seen!
-million dollar smile
-would knock the bottle out of his mouth as an infant and then scream like he was being tortured when the bottle fell out, arching his back & squirming

Addie

-definitely a mamma's girl (she will cry if other people even talk to her)
-our little jumper (She will jump up and down on your lap for minutes at a time without any sign of getting tired. Our arms get tired way before her little legs need a break.)
-will play in her crib for a long time when she wakes up. When we come in to get her she starts clapping and jumping up and down.
-cute little girl laugh
-often tries to get into trouble by crawling up the stairs and then laughs and goes faster when she knows you're going to get her
-will eat just about anything you give her
-loves to snuggle
-tough audience...hard to get her to laugh but when she does, it's adorable

WE SURE LOVE OUR BABIES!
